Books to Read in 2020
Yep, it’s well into the new year now. I’m still writing ’19 in my journal. 2020 has arrived, and it’s continuing on at an incredible speed, whether you like it or not. For me it’s been a roller coaster already, and I’m learning to go with the flow. It’s hard, really hard. I tell myself that it’s ok, I’m learning every day. Change is constant, so there’s no point to clinging to the past or feeling anxious about the future. Yet, I continue to do so, and I acknowledge these emotions and try to let them go to the best of my ability. One of my favorite tools to help me feel more grounded is by reading books.
Here are a list of 16 books that have inspired me in some way, and I highly recommend all of them (in no particular order):
When you’re wanting to live your most intentional life:
The Art of Making Memories by Meik Wiking
When you’re feeling stuck and confused:
Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo
When you’re needing some leadership inspo:
Becoming by Michelle Obama (also love the accompanied guided journal too)
When you’re about to spend $7 on a latte:
The Latte Factor by David Bach
When you’re wanting to achieve financial independence:
Quit Like a Millionaire: No Gimmicks, Luck or Trust Fund Required by Bryce Leung and Kristy Shen
When nothing is going your way:
When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron
When you’re feeling lost and overwhelmed:
The Path Made Clear by Oprah Winfrey
When you’re curious about therapy:
Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb
When you’re looking for short, powerful affirmations:
Meditations for Women Who Do Too Much by Anne Wilson Schaef
When you’re done with commuting 4 hours a day and looking for something different:
If You Lived Here, You’d Be Home By Now by Christopher Ingraham
When you’re feeling overwhelmed by the world around you:
The Highly Sensitive Person by Elaine Aron
When you’re doubting the power of female friendships,
City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert
When you wonder what it’s like to join a music band:
Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
When you’re looking for truth bombs:
From Heart and Hand by Ajahn Jayasaro (free ebook here)
When you’re wanting to laugh out loud unapologetically:
Dear Girls by Ali Wong
When you’re feeling disconnected,

All right. That’s it for now. Let me know if you end up picking up a book and if it resonated with you in some way. Read on. #readingismytherapy #selfcare
