How to meet people in a new town as a highly sensitive person (HSP)

Perhaps you’ve just moved to a new town and you don’t really know anyone. Well, yes, it could feel really vulnerable and scary. The good news is that there are people waiting to meet you. And, yes, you may feel uncomfortable or deal with social anxiety and those are valid reasons to not want to engage with the outside world. First off I want to congratulate you for making the big or small move to live a more aligned life. You are, perhaps for the first time in your life, choosing yourself. Perhaps you’re a recovering people pleaser or never really ventured out of your hometown. It’s both exciting and nerve-racking the same time.

As a highly sensitive person you may feel that everything feels overwhelming, and you need at least 6 months to decompress. While it’s crucial to make time for your old friends over the phone or virtually, in-person connection is essential as well. Yes, your introvert self needs some in-person connection as well, especially if you’re working from home and live alone.

I’m here to help break down the steps for you in case they might be helpful to you. I’ve been there a few times and know it all too well - the feeling of moving to a new town and not knowing exactly how to meet people.
