The days are long, but the years are short
Anybody else feels this way about time? Each day as you go through the motion, you may feel that it’s “same same” redundant. Like, what is life? Do I just wake up, go to work, pay bills, repeat and die? Well, it depends on how you look at it.
Ever since I’ve practiced mindfulness, I’m more awake in my daily life. I’ve begun to feel moments of tension (both external and internal) during the day and I just simply breathe. And, you know what, I feel instantly better.
Perhaps mindfulness is the key to burnout prevention. Working in the healthcare industry, you may have heard the term “compassion fatigue,” feeling exhausted of caring for others. And depending on what’s going on in your life at that moment, you may not be the only one feeling that way.
So, take time, invite a co-worker to walk during lunch - even if it’s a quick 15, actually take a lunch and simply enjoy the taste of your food, or just breathe deeply for a few breaths.
Please take care of yourself. Without you the world won’t be the same. You matter. Don’t ever forget that.
