On reading

It’s funny how some people never pick up a book again after finishing school, but for me I’ve learned to appreciate reading more and more, especially when I’m not in school anymore. Why is that? Maybe it’s the fact that it’s not required reading (I never finished Scarlet Letter) or that I’ll get to choose the books and decide which one to read. Sit in the discomfort

Try this practice today. Observe how your body and mind are while you engage in something that is challenging or outside your comfort zone. See how your body reacts. See how your mind is. This is how you cultivate body and mind awareness. What does the voice inside you say? See if you can push yourself and sit in the discomfort. Don’t hold your breath, though. Is your body uncomfortable? What about your mind? Observe and let it go. Repeat.
